Scholarships

Rice County Community Foundation administers six scholarships open to all qualifying Rice County high school seniors. Applicants should review each scholarship’s qualifying criteria and guidelines for each scholarship.

Knight Family K-State Scholarship: This scholarship is facilitated by the Lyons Community Scholarship Application, Lyons High School Counselor, and the Rice County Community Foundation. The scholarship is awarded to an LHS senior planning to attend K-State, with special consideration for agricultural majors given. This scholarship is renewable for up to 8 semesters. 

Knight Family Sterling College Scholarship: This scholarship is facilitated by Sterling College and the Rice County Community Foundation. The scholarship is given to an incoming freshman enrolled in the business program who is living on campus. 

Knight Family VoTech scholarship: This scholarship is facilitated by the Lyons Community Scholarship Application, Lyons High School Counselor, and the Rice County Community Foundation. The scholarship is awarded to an LHS senior planning to attend vocational education. This scholarship is renewable for up to 4 semesters. 

LHS Class of 1961 Scholarship: This scholarship is facilitated by the Lyons Community Scholarship Application, Lyons High School Counselor, and the Rice County Community Foundation. The scholarship is in the amount of $1,500 to help deserving students with aspirations to further their education. 

Margie Schmidt Memorial Scholarship: This scholarship is to give a scholarship to a Sterling High School graduate in memory of a longtime teacher, Margie Schmidt. This scholarship is a one-time scholarship for a high achieving student who shows interest in Business. 

Neil and Geri Crane Scholarship: This scholarship is facilitated by the Lyons Community Scholarship Application, Lyons High School Counselor, and the Rice County Community Foundation. The scholarship is awarded to an LHS senior who is planning to further their education at a Kansas institution. The scholarship was designed to honor Neil and Geri Crane. This scholarship is renewable for up to 8 semesters. 

Roth Family K-State Scholarship: This scholarship is facilitated by the Lyons Community Scholarship Application, Lyons High School Counselor, and the Rice County Community Foundation. The scholarship is awarded to an LHS senior planning to attend K-State, with special consideration for agricultural majors given. This scholarship is renewable for up to 8 semesters.
