Grant provides Office Space for Non-Profit to Serve Autistic Children in Rice County

Posted Wednesday November 10, 2021

Sunflower Diversified has a mission to advocate for, support, and teach clients with developmental delays and/or disabilities to reach their potential and achieve as much independence as they desire. Sunflower Diversified serves Barton, Pawnee, Rice, Stafford, and Rush Counties. With a desire to be more present in the counties outside of their headquarters, Sunflower Diversified had a vision of opening an office in Rice County to offer educational and behavioral services for children with autism from birth to 5 years old. The ability to bring services closer to the citizens of Rice County is vital to the health and success of Rice County.

After identifying an office space that would work for the program, just a block off the courthouse square, Derek McCloud offered to remodel the building for no cost to Sunflower Diversified. It is community-minded building owners like Derek that are key to making progress in our county. Derek McCloud is covering the cost of utilities and Rice County Community Foundation made a grant of $10,000 to cover the cost of rent for the office space for the next two years.

Thank you to Sunflower Diversified for seeking out opportunities for expanding service to Rice County.
