Exciting Announcement! The Salt & Art Project is Complete!

We are thrilled to announce the completion of the Salt & Art project, a vibrant celebration of our town's rich history and collaborative spirit. This incredible endeavor was made possible thanks to the remarkable teamwork and support from various groups and individuals.

Collaboration at its Finest:

  • The Office of Rural Prosperity and Kansas Department of Commerce provided the essential Rural Art grant.
  • The City of Lyons played a pivotal role as the applicant for the project and provided payment management.
  • Alicia Hommon's dedication as a volunteer facilitated and managed the grant process seamlessly.
  • Talented artists Yasmine Maskil and Kristy Battershell brought their creative vision to life.
  • Lyons Salt graciously provided matching funds and the salt mine cars and brought them up from the mine, a cornerstone of our town's identity. Special thanks to Nathan Steele!
  • Compass Minerals stepped up with matching funds, demonstrating their commitment to community enhancement.
  • M&M Pipeline's expertise ensured each salt mine car was sandblasted and primed to perfection.
  •  Brody Miller, Stuart Miller, Chris Joranco, and the City of Lyons Parks Department for transportation of the salt mine cars
  • Rice County Community Foundation assisted with logistics and supported the grant application.
